SHANE PALLISTER
Bio
I was born in Montana in 1969. At the age of 1 i was diagnosed with nerve cancer and had a tumor removed. At 3.5 the tumor regrew and I had extensive surgery including tumor removal, muscle removal and radiation. At 16 I had spinal reconstruction surgery and spent 1.5 years in traction. I spent the following year in a body cast.
( I now have severe scoliosis, kyphosis, arthritis of the spine, and disc degenerative disorder.)
From birth I was involved in hunting, often riding in backpacks while my parents pursued game, picked berries/mushrooms, gardened or any of the other many outdoor activities we enjoyed as a family.
My father Greg Pallister, was in school to become a biologist, and during completion his masters in wildlife biology, he did his thesis on bighorn sheep in the Beartooth mountains of Montana. I was exposed to sheep as a toddler which ignited a life long passion for sheep hunting.
In 1981 our family moved to Canada to start cattle ranching. Shortly after that my father started hunting sheep in BC.
In 1989 I started making regular trips into the mountains and shot my first Stones sheep in 1990.
our family hunted extensively for sheep and were very successful.
3 years ago my father and I embarked on a 39 day sheep hunt thru the rocky mountains retracing the path Chadwick took in the 30's in pursuit of a ram for my father, and ultimately creating a tribute to a great father, husband and sheep hunter.
The ensuing Video we created has had outstanding reviews.
3.5 years ago I started guiding sheep hunters in Mexico and Alaska. My first experience guiding in Alaska was in conjunction with Wounded Warriors Outdoors. I help Kirsti Ennis, (a wounded amputee Marine) harvest her first ram.
After that experience I immediately volunteered to be a part of Wounded Warriors Outdoors and remain a volunteer to this day.
In the last 3.5 years I've guided 43 rams and taken some giants. 193 inch bighorn, 187 inch desert, and 19 book rams in Mexico.
in recent years in I've worked hard to inspire others to overcome their disabilities as I have, thru wounded warriors, and in Life.
Some of the best moments I've had have been people that have approached me explaining that because of the the inspirational message I promote, they have chosen not to take their life.
